Questions you might have

ARE YOU SMART ENOUGH TO HELP ME? Aren’t you “just a nurse?”

I am “just a nurse” but I’m also a whole lot more….

I’m also a scientist:

  • Bachelors in Biology, Purdue University

  • Masters in Science, Indiana University

I’m also trained in public policy:

  • Masters in Public Administration, Indiana University

…and I scored in the highest quintile in my Functional Medicine Certification, so I know my biochemistry!

HOW CAN A NURSE HELP ME?

Nurses are the most trusted of health care professionals.*

We’re trained to really listen so we can assess your condition. And, we’re trained to teach. I use these assets fully with every client.

Together, we create a wellness plan tailored to your unique needs, using your strengths and resources.

WHAT IS FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

“Functional medicine takes a comprehensive, whole health approach to prevention, health, and well-being; treats root causes of disease; and restores healthy function through a personalized patient experience — all while being a vital partner to conventional medicine.”

-The Institute for Functional Medicine

WHAT IS A CERTIFICATION IN FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE?

Certification in Functional Medicine isn’t something you can get at a weekend workshop in Aruba. It takes years and teaches practitioners to think deeply about

  • the body as a whole, rather than separate systems

  • the physiology and pathology of chronic disease and fatigue

  • the uniqueness of each person’s symptoms and situation

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL I NEED?

Some clients work with me for a session or two and I’ve worked with some as an accountability partner for years.

I DON’T LIVE IN KALAMAZOO, CAN WE STILL WORK TOGETHER?

I love in-person sessions, but will happily meet with clients virtually on my HIPAA compliant video link.

WHAT ARE YOUR FEES?

The initial consultation fee is $300. Follow up appointments are $150 per hour, prorated. I can’t take insurance but I can take HSA and FSA cards.
